David H. Watts
David H. (Dave) Watts is the retired chairman of the board of Granite Construction, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Cornell University. He served in the U.S. Navy, where he achieved the rank of lieutenant and led underwater demolition teams. He also was president and CEO of Ford, Bacon, & Davis from 1984-87.
For 35 years, Dave led the introduction of improvements in engineering efficiency, new quality systems, application of new technology, revolutionary changes in delivery systems, all while advancing the state of the art in partnering on heavy construction projects. Under his leaderships, Granite tripled its volume and became one of the nation’s most successful public corporations.
His many honors and recognitions include the Golden Beaver Award in Management from the Beavers, the Outstanding Achievement Award from The Moles, and both the Contractor Achievement Award and the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) of California.
Dave resides in Apalachicola, FL.
