David S. Crawford
David S. (Dave) Crawford is the retired CEO of Sundt Construction. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona. David helped pioneer the use of public sector qualifications-based selection (QBS) for the procurement of construction manager at risk and design-build services. He was an active participant in the lobbying, education, and passage of legislation that enabled alternate project delivery systems for public owners in Arizona, California, Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. His leadership in teaming strategies has resulted in numerous national awards for Sundt projects, including for safety, schedule, and quality.
David has been active in the Construction Industry Round Table, Design-Build Institute of America, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the American Concrete Institute, the Lean Construction Institute, and many others. He has been recognized by the Construction Financial Management Association as Construction Executive of the Year (2013) and serves many charitable and community organizations throughout Arizona.
He enjoyed playing sports of all kinds growing up and is a hot rod enthusiast. He and Penny enjoy their getaway home in the mountains of northeastern Arizona. Their two sons and four grandchildren all live close by the couple’s home in Phoenix.
