Daniel D'Angelo
Daniel D’Angelo is principal civil engineer at Applied Research Associates, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo, and an MBA from Norwich University.
Dan is a leading executive-level technical adviser on project delivery methods and managing risks on complex and challenging transportation infrastructure projects. Before joining Applied Research Associates, he worked for the NY State Department of Transportation from 1988-2017. A key position with the transportation department was Deputy Chief Engineer for the Office of Design and Project Delivery, and as risk manager to the executive steering committee and federal liaison for the $3.9 billion New NY Bridge.
Dan also spent six years leading the Strategic Highway Research Program II for the National Academies of Science. The goal of the program was to find solutions to improving highway safety, reducing congestion, and improving methods for renewing roads and bridges. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer, a Project Management Professional, and Risk Management Professional. He has received several awards including the Design National Award from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence from the NY State Department of Transportation. Among his many professional association involvements, he is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a member of the New York State Education Department State Board for Engineering, Land Surveying and Geology, and is Chair of the Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering Department Advisory Board at the University at Buffalo.
