Carey Smith
Carey Smith is chair, president, and CEO of Parsons in Chantilly, VA. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern University and a master’s in electrical engineering from Syracuse University. In 2018, Ohio Northern University awarded her an honorary doctorate. She began her career as a systems engineer. Since joining the firm in 2016, she has transformed Parsons to become an advanced technology solutions integrator, delivered growth, increased Parsons’ Federal and critical infrastructure business operations, and helped take the company public. Previously, she held leadership roles within the defense and aerospace industries, including Honeywell and Lockheed Martin. Carey is committed to serving customers’ missions and achieving shareholder business results by creating and leading high-performance teams. She is a member of the Parsons Corporation Board of Directors and Edison International Board of Directors. She is a six-time recipient of the GovCon Wash100, GovCon Executive of the Year (2023), five-time recipient of Top Executives to Watch by Washington Exec, awarded the Federal Computer Week Fed100, and named to the Virginia 500 Power List from 2020-2023.
