Cochrane

Luther Cochrane is currently chairman and CEO of the Cochrane Group in Charleston, SC. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a JD degree from UNC Chapel Hill School of Law.

He worked as an attorney for several years before entering the engineering and construction industry with McDevitt & Street Company in 1990. He went on to become chairman and CEO of Bovis Lend Lease Americas from 1995-2002 and then global chairman. He has more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry together with years of board work in healthcare, service, infrastructure, gaming, and related industries. After leading Bovis worldwide, Luther formed the BE&K Building Group, which became the Southeastern Contractor of the Year in the first five years of its existence as a billion-dollar a year construction manager.

He is regarded as a leader in strategic planning, personal and organizational development, leadership training, continuous improvement, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning. He is highly sought as a speaker and writer, with such invitations as those from the Wall Street Journal, the Construction Financial Management Association, ENR, and the American Bar Association.
