Department at Iowa State University. He holds bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD with a specialization in construction from Purdue University.
Chuck has helped transform construction education with mock bid-letting exercises, freshmen learning communities, and hybrid learning in online and face-to-face instruction. During more than 30 years in education, he incorporated advancing technologies into the classroom. He also has mentored seven PhDs, more than 70 master’s candidates, and more than 350 undergraduates. He helped to establish the American General Contractors (AGC) of Iowa Foundation board of trustees as well as the board of advisors for the ACE Mentor Committee.
He has served as editor-in-chief of the top-rated Journal of Construction Engineering and Management by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and is the current chair of that publication’s editorial board. ASCE recognized him in 2011 with the Richard R. Torrens Award for exemplary performance as an ASCE journal editor.
