Charles A. DeBenedittis
Charles A. DeBenedittis is retired partner and senior managing director for Tishman Speyer Properties. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (magna cum laude) from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He then went on active duty with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was awarded the Bronze Star during the Korean War.
In 1954, he joined Tishman Realty and Construction Co. and was promoted to senior vice-president and worked on such building projects as the John Hancock Tower in Chicago and the World Trade Center in New York. Since 1979 he has worked for Tishman Speyer Properties throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America.
In 2003, Charles was presented with the Lynn Beedle Award from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, and in 2004, he was presented with the Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction Technology. He has been active in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Council on Tall Buildings, HELP U.S.A, the Building Research Institute, and with a number of trusteeships.
Charles and his wife, Marie, have four children and six grandchildren. Among their many hobbies, they enjoy traveling.
