C.B. Tatum
C.B. (Bob) Tatum is professor emeritus in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Stanford University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech, a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, an MBA from New York University, and a PhD from Stanford.
He began his teaching career at Stanford in 1983. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in heavy industrial and military construction. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where his assignments included officer candidate school and commanding a construction company in Vietnam.
He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado and Washington. He was a principal investigator in some of the earliest studies by the Construction Industry Institute (CII), including constructability and construction technology. Bob has been honored many times and is the recipient of the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Construction Management Award.
He and his wife, Dale, live in Palo Alto, CA.
