Bill Brown co-chairman of IMPACT. He holds degrees from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in business administration and labor economics. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve. Founded in 1909,Bill's prior employer Ben Hur is the oldest surviving steel erection company in the United States. He began his career at Ben Hur in 1967. He was elected president in 1987 and CEO in 1997. He served as a member of the St. Louis Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee beginning in 1976 and served as its co-chairman 1988-1998. He was appointed to the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Manpower and Training Committee, served as its chairman, and also was a member of the AGC Board of Directors.
President George H.W. Bush appointed Bill to be vice chairman of the Federal Committee on Apprenticeship. He was later appointed by Robert Reich, U.S. Secretary of Labor, to co-chair OSHA's Negotiated Rulemaking Committee. Bill served as president of the National Erector’s Association and its successor organization, the Association of Union Constructors, the largest all-union contractor association in the U.S. He and Nancy have three adult children and two grandchildren. The couple live in Lake St. Louis, MO. Bill enjoys sailing, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson.
