Aviad Shapira
Aviad Shapira is Professor Emeritus of Construction Engineering and Management in the Faculty of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Technion–Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. He earned his BSc, MSc, and DSc degrees in civil engineering from Technion. His academic posts included a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under a grant from the US Air Force; visiting professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Head, Division of Structural Engineering and Construction Management, Technion's CEE; Associate Dean for Teaching and Undergraduate Studies, Technion's CEE; and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Technion's CEE. He worked as a project engineer and project manager in a general contracting firm prior to pursuing an academic career. He is the co-author of Peurifoy's Construction Planning, Equipment, and Methods (2006, 2011, 2018, 2024). His research interests are selection and operation of building construction equipment and multi-criteria decision analysis in civil engineering systems. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a member of American Concrete Institute Committee 347, Formwork for Concrete, and past-chair of the Formwork Design Standardization Committee at the Standard Institution of Israel. He is a recipient of the ASCE Construction Management Award and has been recognized by ENR as a Top 25 Newsmaker.
