Anne M. Ellis
Anne Ellis is the executive director of the Charles Pankow Foundation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. She began her career in structural engineering at a four-person office, followed by project management positions with consulting engineering companies and program management positions at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and Portland Cement Association.
She is co-author of the “Concrete Design and Construction” section of the Standard Handbook for Civil Engineers, Fifth Edition. She has been appointed by five different U.S. cabinet secretaries to their federal advisory committees on energy and trade policy. She serves on numerous boards, including the National Institute of Building Sciences, the Building Seismic Safety Council, and the American Society of Civil Engineers Structural Engineering Institute Futures Fund.
She served as the 90th president of the American Concrete Institute (ACI). For pushing ACI into a new global approach to building and sharing information, Concrete Construction magazine named her one of 2013’s Most Influential People in Concrete Construction. A Professional Engineer, she has been inducted into the Virginia Tech Academy of Engineering Excellence and the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
