Andrew J. Ciancia
Andy Ciancia is chairman of the board of Langan Engineering. He is a graduate of Rutgers University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering.
Throughout his tenure at Langan, he has managed some of the company’s most challenging projects in the New York Metropolitan area and across the country. In addition, Andy is a senior university lecturer at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), teaching soil mechanics and foundation design classes. Prior to NJIT, he was an adjunct professor at NYU and Rutgers.
He holds professional engineering licenses in nine states, is LEED AP certified, and holds a Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering from the Academy of Geo-Professionals, ASCE. Andy is a member of The Moles, an ASCE Fellow, past chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies, New York, and chair of ACEC’s Engineering Excellence Committee. Since 2005, he has worked closely with the New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB), helping update three versions of the Building Code. He also served on the Mayor’s Building Resiliency Task Force. In 2018, he was named Engineer of the Year by ACEC New York and Civil Engineer of the Year by the ASCE Metropolitan Section.
