Kothari

Ashok Kothari is global projects director and a senior vice president at WSP USA. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Jodhpur University, India, and his master’s in structural engineering from Michigan State University. In his brilliant 52-year career, he has extensive experience in leading program management teams on mega transit programs in the U.S. and the United Kingdom and in an advisory role on projects in India, Australia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Currently he is serving as project director for the Westside Purple Line Extension Project in Los Angeles, CA. In London, he was head of program management for the East London Line Project, a design-build project to provide four new stations, redevelopment, and extension of the original East London Line. He also has led program management for such well known transit lines as BART in San Francisco and MARTA in Atlanta. A licensed Professional Engineer in California, he was the recipient of the Greater Los Angeles Engineer of the Year Award in 2012. He has made numerous presentations on mega projects, project management, and tunneling.
