The Ted C. Kennedy Award recognizes outstanding individual achievement for contributions over a career that have immeasurably improved the design and construction industry. The award and the accompanying medal were established by the National Academy of Construction in 2011 and named for Ted C. Kennedy, whose career was built upon his interest in people, ethics, innovation, education, generosity, and local and national involvement.
In creating the award, the Academy modeled the recognition after Ted’s character and the qualities of excellence he represented in his life, in his work, and in his interactions with others. The Awards Committee administers the selection and presentation of the Ted C. Kennedy Award. The Executive Committee affirms the selection.
The Ted C. Kennedy Award, presented annually, is the highest honor given by the National Academy of Construction. Candidates are measured against the following criteria: Commitment to people, Safety, Integrity and ethics, Champion of innovation, Lifetime of achievement, Breadth of sector experience, Breadth of roles, Industry organization leadership, Generosity, and Support of the greater community.
